The Moment and Faith

What does it really mean when faith becomes sight? The story of Thomas in John 20 gives us one of the most honest and human moments in all of Scripture. Thomas is often dismissed as a doubter, but a closer look reveals something far more nuanced. The word the original text actually uses is not doubt but unbelief, and here is the striking truth: the other disciples had that same unbelief until Jesus appeared to them. Thomas was not uniquely flawed. He was simply next in line for an encounter that would change everything. And when he asked, Jesus did not scold him or turn away. Jesus showed up and gave Thomas exactly what he needed. That is the heart of this message. When we bring our unbelief to God, we are not met with rejection. We are met with an open invitation to see, to touch, and to believe. The moment faith becomes sight is the moment confusion gives way to clarity, and we begin to understand our place in a world that desperately needs people who see differently.
