Office Assistants

One day a week (Monday – Thursday, morning or afternoon 9:00am – 12:00pm or 1:30 – 4:30pm), assist Dee in the church office with various tasks including answering the phone, directing calls, performing general office duties such as sorting mail, shredding documents, special projects and mailings, etc.

Pastoral and Congregational Care Team - Reach out to homebound members via phone calls, notes, cards, and occasional visits.  Assist with special receptions as needed.

Staff Care Team - The purpose of the Staff Care Team is to encourage and express appreciation to all UCUMC staff in prayer, in word, and in deed. Staff are remembered with cards, gifts, meals, refreshments, and encouraging words for holidays, staff birthdays, work anniversaries, and other occasions throughout the year. In addtion, the team sponsors a staff holiday luncheon during the Christmas season and holds churchwide receptions to mark milestone work anniversaries. 

UC Morning Prayer Team - Members of the UC Morning Prayer Team meet by Zoom every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning from 8am to 8:30 am to read scripture and pray.  The group follows the format of the Online Book of Common Prayer (https://www.bcponline.org/ ).  All members of UCUMC are welcomed to join! 

Sunday Morning Cafe Baker - Provide delicious treats for members and guests to enjoy in the Café before, during and after service. 

Sunday Morning Café Attendant - Prepare and monitor coffee and set out snacks in the café each Sunday morning.

Sunday Morning Greeters (Front Door & Gathering Space) - greet members and guests as you open the doors for them to enter the Worship Center or when you see them in the Worship Center Gathering Space, starting 20-30 minutes before service begins.

Sunday Morning Welcoming Station Attendant - Greet and engage members and new guests in the Narthex Gathering Space.  Specifically focusing on new guests.  Answering questions and capturing their information on the Welcome Cards.  If unable to answer question, directing them to the Welcoming and Connecting Coordinator for further answers and connection if needed.

Campus Event Greeter - Before on-Campus Events, greet and engage members and new guests in the Narthex Gathering Space.  Specifically focusing on new guests.  Answering questions, capturing their information on the Welcome Cards and inviting them to attend Worship Service on Sunday Mornings.

Facilities Maintenance Assistants - Assist with special projects as needed, such as painting, window washing, furniture removal, etc. 

Grounds Maintenance Assistants - Assist with seasonal projects such as pruning shrubbery, edging sidewalks, grounds cleanup, distribution of pine straw, weeding, removing ice from parking lot, etc.

Kitchen Deep Clean Team - Once a quarter, participate as a team to perform a deep clean of the Fellowship Hall kitchen to include cleaning countertops, cabinets, closets,  floors, refrigerators and other appliances.  Reorganize cabinets and closets as needed.

UC Kids Check-in/Greeter - Welcome and check UC Kids into UC Kids Zone.

UC Kids Hall Monitor - Walk children to and from bathroom, open doors for people entering the Worship Center, and keep an eye on hallway as Kids Zone is meeting.

UC Kids Event Team Members - Collaborate to create events for children and parents, assist with setup and cleanup, and generate ideas for future events.

Sunday Morning Nursery Volunteers - Assist nursery staff in the nursery during Worship hour.

Sunday Afternoon Nursery Volunteers - Assist nursery staff in the nursery during the afternoon programming hours.

UCUMC Weekday School Support Team - Be part of a team that plans and supports special events for the UCUMC Weekday School such as teacher appreciation luncheons, school receptions,  supply drives, etc.  Provide food items, supplies, and/or event setup, serve, and clean up as needed.

Ignite Achievement Academy (IAA)

Support Team - Be part of a team that plans and supports special events for IAA such as teacher appreciation luncheons, school receptions,  supply drives, etc.  Provide food items, supplies, and/or event setup, serve, and clean up as needed.

 Little Lambs Assistant (3 yrs - Kindergarten) - Youth and Adult Assistants needed. Rehearsals are Sundays, 1:00-1:45 PM. We sing, do movements, crafts, and games. We sing at two concerts per year.

University City Kids Arts (UCKA) Assistants (1st-5th Grades) - Youth and Adult Assistants needed. Rehearsals are Sundays, 1:00-1:45 PM. We sing, ring chimes, play percussion, do drama, do movement, have devotionals, play games, and pray. We sing at two worship services and two concerts per year.

Renovation Youth Choir Leaders (Grades 6-12) - Rehearsals are Sundays, 2:15-3:00 PM. We sing at 2-3 worship services and in 2 concerts per year.  We participate in the Youth Mission Trip in June.

Joybell Ringer Leaders 

(Intermediate 6 th -12 th grade Handbell) - We rehearse on Sundays at 3:00 PM in Room 110, lower level of the Worship Center. We ring in 3 worship services per year.

Celebration Choir (Adult, non-auditioned) - Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:30 PM, Thursdays at 1:30 PM, or Sundays at 8:15 AM (choose one rehearsal). We sing at Sunday Morning Worship most weeks, in special evening services, and in three seasonal concerts per year.

Adult Praise Team Singers - Rehearsals are Sundays at 11:50 AM in the Sanctuary. We sing at Sunday Morning Worship services, and in special evening services.

Drama Ministry - We rehearse at various scheduled times and present drama scenes in worship services and seasonal concerts.

Psalm 150 Instrumental Ensemble (Grades 7 - Adult) - Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary. Brass, Percussion, Strings, and Wind players are needed. We play in 5 worship services and 2 seasonal concerts per year.

Praise Band Instrumentalist (Adult and youth with director’s permission) - Guitar, Bass, Drum Set, Keyboard, and Wind players are needed. Rehearsals are Sundays at 11:50 AM in the Sanctuary. We play at Sunday Morning Worship services, and in special evening services. 

Exaltation Ringers (Intermediate-Advanced Adult Handbell) - We rehearse on Sundays at 4:00 PM in Room 110, lower level of the Worship Center. We ring in 4 worship services and 2 seasonal concerts per year.

Photographers - Photograph Sunday morning activities during the Sunday School and Worship hours one Sunday a month.

Slides Operator - Sunday morning Worship Services, special evening services and at 2 seasonal concerts per year.

Video Camera Operators - Sunday morning Worship Services, special evening services, and at 2 seasonal concerts per year. 

Sound Technicians - Sunday morning Worship Services, special evening services, and at 2 seasonal concerts per year.

Altar Guild - We meet at special schedule times to change the paraments, altar candles, and set up or reset other items around the altar. 

Communion Assistants - We serve communion the first Sunday of the month at Sunday morning worship services and at other special evening services.

Ushers - We assist in receiving the offering and helping with communion at Sunday morning worship services and at other special services and events.

Worship Assistants (Adults and Youth) - We speak the welcome, prayers, read scripture and lead congregational responses at Sunday morning worship services and other special services.
