Crisis Assistance (Jerusalem)
27 days until REACH 2015! Today we're featuring Crisis Assistance (Jerusalem - Charlotte).
The mission of Crisis Assistance Ministry is the same today as it was in 1975: to provide assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency.
An independent non-profit agency, Crisis Assistance Ministry focuses on preventing homelessness and preserving dignity for Charlotte-Mecklenburg's working poor--providing emergency assistance with rent, utilities, clothing and furniture.
Our goal is to help each customer receive the tools and support they need to move towards financial stability. To do that, we spend time with each customer understanding their unique situation and needs. This can be a time-consuming process, as each customer is evaluated on an individual basis. The services and support we offer may include:
• Emergency financial assistance
• Deferred payment arrangements with utility vendors
• Referrals to other community agencies and programs
• Screening for available public benefits
• Extended support programs
• Clothing, shoes and household goods
• Furniture and appliances
Our ability to help Charlotte’s working poor is the direct result of community support. Crisis Assistance Ministry is a unique public-private partnership that uses a combination of public and private dollars to provide emergency financial assistance in the form of payment directly to rent and utility vendors. More than 94% of every dollar we receive goes directly to programs.
