Starting an Endowment Fund
Establishment of an Endowment Fund was formally approved by the UCUMC Charge Conference on June 2, 2014.
For church members, friends, and family who want to make a legacy or memorial gift that will perpetually benefit the ministry of the church, an endowment fund is the best vehicle to achieve that goal. It segregates donations from other church funds, invests them under expert guidance, and draws investment income to be used for non-budgeted ministry items.
UCUMC members, friends, and family now have a vehicle to donate funds that will serve as an everlasting gift for the mission of the church. Donations can be made in a number of ways including cash, memorials, stock, wills, life insurance, etc.
UCUMC Endowment Fund Information
The endowment fund will be under the church’s existing 501(c)3 non-profit organization status and administratively be a subcommittee of Finance. Fund investments will be handled by the Untied Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina (UMFWNC). Their website can be found here: http://umfwnc.org/
Below are two brochures that provide FAQ’s and information on legacy giving. The purpose of the endowment is to provide a perpetual source of funds for non-budgeted needs in the areas of missions, Christian discipleship, and physical plant improvements or upgrades.
Free resources and information for wills, estate planning, and planned giving are provided for UCUMC members at no charge through the UMFWNC and can be found here: www.umfwnclegacy.org
Please contact one of the Endowment Committee members listed below if you have questions, would like to make a donation, or need more information.
