Day 13 - The Harvest
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” --Luke 10:2
Up to this point, we’ve studied the Good News of Jesus (His death and resurrection on the cross), what He offers to those who believe in Him, and His believers’ mission in the world (advancing His kingdom). Now we need to look at the mission field.
The whole chapter of Luke 10 in the Bible is dedicated to helping Jesus’s followers learn about the mission field. In it we see evidence that God’s reign and authority have influence over the evil in the world, but we can also read the parable of “The Good Samaritan” in which Jesus describes one person coming to another’s aid in spite of social, racial, and economic barriers.
There are people all over this world who do not know this Good News, and it is God’s desire that His followers would seek out their neighbors in order that His love and mercy would be displayed to all who need it, regardless of the differences that may physically separate one person from another.
Read Luke 10. Which part of this chapter best describes your current situation? What can you take away from reading about it?
