Another Consignment Sale is Finished!
Another consignment sale is finished. The clothes, shoes, and toys came and went. I am left with an immense feeling of gratitude and strengthened faith. We were worried before this sale began. Our volunteer numbers were at less than 50%. How were we ever going to pull off taking in, organizing, selling, and cleaning up the massive amount of merchandise—much less fulfilling our mission of supporting families and children in need?
In Phillipians 4, we are taught not to worry. We are taught to focus on things that are good and true. We are taught that God will take care of us. This became a reality for those of us on the consignment sale board. We continued forward, seeking families in crisis who could benefit from the support this sale could offer. We made lists of organizations who requested donated clothing, shoes, and toys to help impoverished children locally and around the world.
At the same time, you all rallied around us. Women’s and men’s Bible study groups, Sunday school groups, staff members, and individuals who just simply felt called to serve. In addition to the church groups who regularly help with the sale and are greatly appreciated, you embraced the mission of touching the lives of these children and families in need and thanks to all of you, the sale ran smoothly and successfully from beginning to end. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to each one of you. Your presence and service were invaluable. Thanks to all of the combined efforts, the sale has already been able to:
• Help 12 local families in crisis. In total that included 29 children who were able to receive clothing and other necessities at no cost to these families.
• Re-stock the David Cox and AME Zion clothing closets.
• Donate boxes of clothing, shoes, and other necessities to the Gate Pregnancy Resource Center, West VA Mission Trip, Honduras Mission Trip, Nicaragua Mission Trip, and BETA Club shoe drive.
And this is only what has happened before we disburse the funds generated by the sale.
It was an honor serving alongside you.
