Lessons from a Spinning Sheep
I loved it the first time I experienced it--the Children’s Nativity at UCUMC. That first Christmas, I was newly engaged to be married. My mind was racing with all the possibilities of life with my soon-to-be husband. Those dreams now included anticipating the day when we might have a child who would be a sheep in this annual event.
REACH 2016 Stop Hunger Now Meals
Hey University City! Our REACH 2016 Missions Conference was a tremendous success in more ways than we can describe in one post, but one of the most exciting events from the week was getting to pack thousands and thousands of bags of food to send to hungry children and their families. We were thrilled to receive the following message from Stop Hunger Now letting us know that the food you provided and packed has arrived at its destination and is filling empty stomachs as we speak! Enjoy the following story of how God is using UCUMC to be His hands in Nicaragua...

During REACH 2015, Norival Trindade joined us from the International Leadership Institute, an organization that trains leaders all over the world to help accelerate the spread of the Gospel. Norival and his wife are currently serving in Cuba, partnering with local pastors and churches to train leaders in the community. Check out what's happening there:
REACH Update: YoungLife
University City United Methodist Church, I want to thank you for your support of Spartanburg YoungLife. Because of your support we are able to reach hundreds of kids around the county each day. There are 30 leaders that include staff and volunteers that each day is able to minister to students throughout the county. On Monday nights both high schools put on their respective clubs where about 80-120 kids that attend depending on the season. On Wednesday and Friday nights each middle school has club; we have seen this area grow so much. There are about 150 students who participate; we have had over 25 kids signed up for summer camp!
Another Consignment Sale is Finished!
Another consignment sale is finished. The clothes, shoes, and toys came and went. I am left with an immense feeling of gratitude and strengthened faith. We were worried before this sale began. Our volunteer numbers were at less than 50%. How were we ever going to pull off taking in, organizing, selling, and cleaning up the massive amount of merchandise—much less fulfilling our mission of supporting families and children in need?
REACH Update: The Fletcher Family
From our REACH Faith Promises, we are now supporting the Fletcher family as they begin their new adventure in Ecuador with One Mission Society. They are planning to have enough funding to go to language school in April. Read more about their calling and their journey by checking out their website www.fletchersteps.org.
