Always A Place in my Heart
By Maria Guild, member of the Youth Mexico Mission Team.
It feels unreal that I was in [Mazatlan, MX] a month ago [with the Youth Mexico Mission Team].
I knew that I was called to serve in Mexico long before I was even old enough to realize what that entailed. I had always wanted to travel internationally, so for my first time out of the country to be on mission was a double win for me.
I have memories of the projects we did, watching people worship the Lord in a different language, and the smiles of the children we played with each day etched into my memory. I was able to stretch myself physically and spiritually – trying things I had always heard about but thought I wasn't strong enough to attempt.
I will forever be grateful for this opportunity to immerse myself into a different country, a culture outside of my own, but still remain in the presence of Jesus throughout the entirety of the trip. I grew closer to some of my best friends and met some incredible Back2Back interns and staff who pushed me outside of my comfort zone.
Thank you to everyone who supported me and who made this experience greater than I could have ever imagined. Mexico will always have a place in my heart and for that I can only thank the One who brought me to the beautiful city of Mazatlan.
