UC Kids and Family Update October

October has flown by! I hope it has been good to you! We have had a lot of fun in these first few weeks on Sunday mornings. We have all been learning about the life of Moses.

UC Kids Arts has been going great too! Our UCKA Choir is learning music with boom whackers! They are sounding really well with Mrs. Emily leading them. Our Little Lambs are loving their time making joyful noises with Ms. Karen and Olivia.

Help Is Needed
Each Sunday morning we need around 10 people to help everything run smoothly in UC Kids Zone and Nursery. Not only have we not been playing from a full roster but we have lost a few faithful volunteers. I am asking you to give some thought to how you can be a part of the Sunday Morning UC Kids Team. There are many opportunities to serve including leading a small group. Other opportunities include hall monitor, check-ins/greeting, and nursery assistant. There is a place for you in the UC Kids and Family Ministry and I look forward to helping you find that place. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

This Sunday is our indoor Trunk of Treats! You are invited to come through from 2:00-4:00. This is an amazing and fun event every year, as well as, an easy event to invite your friends, neighbors, & coworkers to. Costumes are not required but we do love to see all the creativity that the community comes through with. I will be there and I cannot wait to see you!

Over the next two weeks I have the opportunity to travel to two different conferences to learn more about welcoming children into worship. First I will be at The Annual Gathering in Indianapolis. My focus will be on Strengthening Ministry with Children and the workshops I am attending will cover many different aspects of ministry. The week after I will head up to Lake Junaluska to attend The Wonder Summit with Pastor D and Priscilla Edgin. Together we will represent University City as we learn how to better include children in our worship service. Workshops include discussions on reimagining play in worship, best practices for neurodivergent children in worship, intergenerational goals, and anti-ableist worship. I am grateful for these opportunities to learn more about how to better serve my church family. Please pray for safe travels from myself and my travel companions as well as my family as they do life without me for a few days in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you all for the support you give to your children and the children and family ministry at University City. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am available by email while I travel.
